30 Minute Run

I little tired from yesterday's workout. Went out this morning and did 30 minutes recovery running.

Building a Brick House

Today was a brick session. Started with 75 minutes on the trainer, followed immediately by 45 minutes running. Supposed to simulate the time I'd spend in an olympic distance race.
I certainly didn't go at race pace. Still trying to work on base building. Overall average heart rate for the 2 hours was 138. Lower on the bike, higher on the run. Felt good to put in 2 hours after this recovery week. Also good to know I can complete the distance. Not breaking any land speed records, but I'll get across the finish line and I've got 3 months til my first race.

Morning Run

Just got back from a 40 minute run. This recovery week has been good, but I've been getting antsy (sp?) to put in longer workouts. Tomorrow will be a brick session bike run at simulated olympic race times (not effort).
Average HR 145 (still a little too high)

No workout today

No workout today. Just work. On the site that is. Trying to clean things up and put together some new ideas to make it better and more useful for triathletes and endurance athletes in general.
Was supposed to start my contract position on Monday, but the paperwork was delayed a little so back to work on the 7th. Hopefully I'll get enough hours to make rent :) , but not so many to keep me from building out the trifuel resource.

Probably just kick it a watch a movie this evening. Feeling a little run-down. The schedule off day came at a perfect time. Well me pup is moaning… Time to wrestle!

Bike Trainer

Easier/Shorter ride today, as I'm in a recovery week. 45 minutes on the trainer easy to moderate effort. Average heart rate 128.
Diet not bad today either.
- Raisin Bran
- Half a Clif Bar
- Almond butter and Jam sandwich
- Tai rice noodle soup
- Rice and vegetarian black bean chili for dinner

Run

35 minutes this morning. Bad night's sleep = high heart rate. Got caught up working again til the wee ours and didn't sleep well.

Strength Training

Did about 45 minutes of strength training during lunch. Will do about 75 minutes on the trainer later this evening. stay tuned…

Easy Recovery Run

Started off my recovery week with an easy slow run. Heart good for the first half but then climbed again for the second half. I'm making progress but still too high. Need to lower it a few beats. 30 minutes 142 avg HR.

Sunday's Run

Today was the long run of the week. Some people like to split up their long bike and run days giving more rest between them. I've always done them saturday/sunday, back to back. I think this method stemmed from my brothers training plan and those from Allen's Book.

The thinking behind back to back is teaching you to run on fatigued
legs, simulating how they'll most likely feel after the swim and bike
portion of a race. If your long run is always on fresh legs, they'll be a little shocked come race day :)

So back to my run, 60 minutes at 145 avg. Again started out well with the heart rate zone, but it climbed in the second half of the run. Took long route around neighborhood. moderate incline the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Cycle to Ran, then Ran!

Did 2 1/2 hours on the trainer this morning. Watched part of Kurosawa's Ran. Long movie, not sure how far til the end but pretty good so far. Having to read subtitles helps make the time pass, but I probably wasn't at the best intensity for the whole duration. Jumped off the bike and did 25 minute brick run. Maintained a good heart rate through the bike, but the run was off the charts. Way too high, tried to go as slow as possible without walking but couldn't keep it down. Total Avg. HR for 2:55 session was 132.
