This week has been even worse than the last few, I can't seem to get myself to stick with the training. I end coming up with excuses to easily or I'll do it tonight - which rarely happens. Need to write down a plan and stick with it. maybe even look into getting a coach - or just butt kicker.
Weather looks to be improving so at least that's one less excuse
. Anyway bad week (month). I even got passed up on most active blog, shameful

Starting off to be another long work (job) week. Looks likes 40+ on the day job, then a few updates to client sites and trifuel. I think I'm going to start another blog to document my journey to becoming self employed (Unbound I like to say), and keep this more focused on the endurance training aspect of my journey.
So, today I ran after work. About 30 minutes moderate. It was a win for me to get off my butt after 9 hours and get a workout in. So looking forward to Matt coming up will be much easier to train with a partner.

Started off the day with a thirty minute run. I wish it was as easy to get out for a ride as it is a run. I like running in the morning because it starts the day off well and I get my workout in. Tough for me to squeeze a ride in before I need to start working. I may switch my running to MWF just to start those days off well, along with my LSD on Sunday's.
Worked for the rest of the day pretty much. Now relaxing and deciding what to do with the rest of my night. Probably read, haven't done much of that lately.

Went for my run this morning. 40 minutes easy. Heart rate maintained pretty much where I wanted it. A little higher at the end but I'm not going to stress about it anymore.
I like running in the morning. Or I should say I like after I run in morning. Meaning it's feels good to start the day with exercise and to know that whatever comes up in the day I got my workout in. However, i'm not much of a morning person so it can be hard, especially on colder days.
Speaking of cold. It's been like 65-70's most of the month, then bam serious drop in the weather towards the end of last week with high winds, rain, and snow yesterday. Riding outside keeps getting pushed indoors and I'm so over riding the trainer
.
Anyway got to get a ride in tomorrow.
Work: right when i thought I'd caught up on the current project, slam
more stuff piled on. Was hoping to catch up so I can focus more on
trifuel, but looks like full time for the rest of the month at least. I
did get a new sponsor for the site, Endless Pools,
so that's awesome. Would like to sign on 1 or 2 more and I'll be closer
to going majority-time trifuel work, minority-time job (to help pay the
bills).
How does one define work? vs job? I've been giving a lot of thought to that over the past year. I guess I was raised thinking you have to get a job and work to earn a living and that meant working for someone else for the most part. I never liked that idea, though went along with it because it seemed the norm. Sometimes I feel guilty or lazy when I think about maybe doing trifuel full-time (along with other endurance projects and design work/ basically not working for someone else). And I think this is because of how I viewed work growing up - office, employer, 9-5 (or 8-7
. So when I think of doing trifuel, it is work - my work - but not a job, because I enjoy it. Same with some of the design projects I work on. It's fun, I guess that's the issue, re-training myself to believe that work can be fun and that it should be fun, and not feel guilty for enjoying it or just wanting to do what you enjoy. And not feel lazy or guilty because I don't work 8-5, but still put in 50+ hours a week, just spread throughout the day and week. I tend to work better and more creatively in the evening, like now - though I wouldn't consider this creative, just ramblins - the ramblin boy in the 35 year-old body.
Anyway my point through this post was to define work/job…
Work is now what I do, my purpose, what I enjoy or find rewarding. And a Job is that stuff I have to do, but don't enjoy, in order to pay the bills and make ends meet.
My objective is to quit my Job and start Working for a Living!

Spent 1 hour 30 on the trainer this morning while watching Riding Giants. Cool flick about big wave riders with some great footage.
Was hoping to get out on the road but woke up to overcast skies and light showers. Nothing compared to what I hear they had at Ralph's. Also kept tabs on the race while on the trainer. Chris and Matt did well. Chris first off the bike and ended up 2nd overall and Matt came in 8th. Congrats Bros!
Now to get the older, unfit bro into shape as to not tarnish the Lieto name
.

Shorter run today. 35 minutes. Still having serious issues getting my heart rate where I want it. It's becoming frustrating. I can't seem to breath properly and my heart rate kicks up 10 beats about 10 minutes in and another 5-10 beats 20 minutes in.
I got to just stick with it though, eventually I'll be a lean, mean, runnin machine

Longer run day today. Ended up doing about 70 minutes of running and 30 minutes or so of walking/hiking before hand. Took the dog with me. Tough running with him on a leash (too much energy and throws my heart rate all out of whack). So we walked out the trails, let him lose and off we went.
Great run as this trail is pretty low traffic. Met a few other dogs and their owners but mostly just the two of us. I struggling to stay in a lower Heart Rate, he not giving a damn and running 85% the whole time. Running circles around me.
So wish I had the stamina of Streatley, maybe… He does peeter out towards the end when it's back on the leash time to head home. Ends up hanging off my heals looking at me like "when we getting home, I went too hard again".
Rest of the day was pretty relaxing. Went to get my coffee, read a few articles in the latest edition of Outside. Worked a bit on Karnazes web site and then on trifuel. Took a nap, played more with the dog and now about to cook up some soup for dinner.
Weather was great for the run this morning, but it's a bit windy and cold now.
Probably hang out on the internet and read this evening. I'm starting to crave the TV again. Could use some 60 Minutes.

Feeling it in the legs today.
Decided I need to be more of a morining workout person, as to avoid getting side tracked with work and such during the day and missing the training. Went for a run at about 7:30 this morning. Beautiful day, but a little touch to run. Heart rate a little higher. I don't fully wake up until post coffee and shower, so this was different. Prioritized with the run instead of the Americano this morning.
After the run, I walked to get my cup of coffee and did some work in the coffee shop. Just finishing up work now and hoping to relax this evening - no trifuel or design work tonight.
Watched I Heart Huckabees last night. Overall I liked it. Some quirker bits that I didn't care for, but generally pretty funny movie.

Boy, been really busy lately. I suppose it's better than not being busy enough, but it'll be nice to slow down. Day job keeping me busier than I thought it would, trifuel definitely keeping me busier than I thought IT would. Which is great. very exciting, more contributing coaches coming and I'm playing around with adding an official Trifuel Blog to cover other endurance sports or additional research I find around the web or in magazines. Basically another way to share more info and keep people tuned into the lifestyle.
Did have a chance to get in a strength training session today, good as I've been laxed on that most of all and feel my muskels dwindling away.
Hopefully I'll get out for a run in the morning. Weather's been great the last few days. Feels like late Spring.

Great sunny day today. Too good to not get out and run. Felt great to breath in the fresh air and get the blood flowing. As some have noticed (thanks PoC) I haven't been keeping up on the blog as of late. Been swamped with work. Which usually means blocks of hours sitting in front of the computer drinking too much coffee and not eating enough, which effects my energy to get out and train.
A cycle that I repeat often, unfortunately. But I suppose we all fall into slumps. Need to get out and stay out. The weather being so great will definitely help, and work should get a little better soon.
Bought a bunch of fruit and veggies to munch on during the day to keep my energy up. Also tried some smoothies from a shop down the road. Very tasty and better for me than that Americano (ooh, Americano…)
Well back to work, need to do some design work for a local tri club and catch up on some trifuel stuff. late!
