Boy, do I really like running now. My kness not so much after about 75 minutes, but the rest of me really enjoys being out there. Running up here on the trails is so much more satisfying than much of the road running I did back in Norcal. Not that there weren't good trails to run in Norcal, but they weren't just down the block and there was always a lot of climbing involved.
Running the trails here is fun, slightly rolling on some of the single track, and just so many options so close. If you ever get bored with the same trail or running on the road, explore some trails runs.
I think the times goes by faster as well because I'm taking in the scenery.
Post run was a shop day. Time to replace the beat-up cycling shoes and worn out shorts. My white ass was starting to peak through
Purchased a pair of Specialized Sport Road shoes and Pearl Izumo shorts, along with another pair of Cannondale shorts and outer shell type top. Decided I might as well just drop all the coin at once and stopped in the running shop as well to pick a pair of trail shoes. Purchased the Brooks Adrenaline Trail and some inserts to help with my significant pronation issues.
I believe my pronantion problem is a central cause of my knee and lower back issue on longer runs or walks. It's funny, whenever a new shop sales person has me do the walk to check out my feet, they cringe a bit upon seeing how much movement I've got. Ugly!

Went for a run at lunch. 40 minutes, need to start pushing the mid-week run a little further. Should try to get it up to an hour. Anyway the run was pretty good considering my last attempt. Felt better, but high HR. Beautiful day and ran down by the river. Got a little warm and bonky towards the end.
One thing I'm noticing as I try to get back into my training. A couple years ago I could miss a workout here and there and still be o.k. Seems now I've hit the age, or lost enough fitness, where consistancy plays a greater role in my fitness. Missing a day, even a recovery day, seems to have an effect overall. I need to maintain my training or I'm not going to get where I want to be. Any that was the lesson of the day.
Below is a test of trackbacks, pinging TdB.
Track Test
Can I trackback myself? ad this template?

Took off at lunch to do a run. Was the worst run of the year. Only 30 minutes but pure hell. Achy knee for the first 5 minutes, heart rate super high, insides felt like they were being torn apart and dizzily exhausted by the end. So much for a recovery run.
I gather it has to do with the poor nutrition (or lack of much at all) and sleep over the last few days. Didn't get to bed til late and find it hard to follow asleep if I work too late. Too much still going through my head.
Again I need more of a time management coach than anything.
Bigmatt moves up next thursday so that will be great. Someone to pull me away and make sure I at least eat
Training has not been up to par. Been mostly sqeezing things in than really going by any plan. The weather and bigmatt will change that. much needed…

Did a 40 minute ride on the trainer tonight. Site went down while I was on it, so cut it short to figure out why. Road at a fairly strong pace.
Then spent rest of night tweaking the templates on the blogs. Hopefully they work for people. Will try to create more at a later date.
Exhausted, heading to bed.

Spent yesterday morning on the trainer. 90 minutes while watching the Tour. Need to get more DVD's. Kinda of a miserable weekend here. Wet and Cold.
Rest of the day and today spent updating and testing files of the Blogs. I think we're just about there so I made the changes and upgrades. I'll also post something in the forums. Basically the interface is much improved in my opinion. Once you get used to a few things having moved about it better.
A few issues I'm still working through suhc as Albums not quite working properly and "Memory" issues. I've contacted my host to upgrade so hopefully that should be fixed soon and the 2 I believe are related so once the Memory is upgraded then the Albums should work better.
Improvements:
- Now everyone has there own website. No more triathlonlife.com/index equals questionsmark my username slash. Now its username.triathlonlife.com so I'm now tribro.triathlonlife.com - more like blogger.
Initial downside is the old urls don't work, so you may need to change your links, but I think longterm this way will be easier for your family and friends to remember and gives you more of a website of your own feel.
- as well URLs are improved. No more & ? = blah, blah, blah - now /month/day/year/name-of-entry/
- Also new Dashboard when you first long in which shows you some of your stats for your blog and the latest posts and comments
- Triathlonlife home page should, as well, load much faster than previously. Haven't had a chance to update some of the templates to offer other new things, these software upgrades took longer than I expected. I'll try to get to that this week, and hopefully have the Album and Memroy issues resolved then as well.
If you do get the memory error just do a browser refresh and often times it'll correct itself. sorry for that!

I know it's becoming more accepted to see guys running in spandex pants, especially the cx-w stuff, but I still feel a bit self conscious wearing it. Went for a run this morning and decided to throw on the pants, as opposed to unleashing the white chicken legs. Anyway I feel I concentrate more on making sure "everything is in check" than I do on my running or form. I will say that it's good for tempo runs as I tend to push the pace so it registers with fewer pedestrians along the way.
My biggest fear is running into someone I know and having to stop and stand around talking in spandex. Another reason to push the pace. So needless to say it was a high heart, tempo run. Faster coming in then going out. About 35 minutes, was supposed to do 40 but didn't want to run circle around the block to get in the extra minutes.
Oddly enough I don't feel self conscious doing the bricks in cycling or tri shorts, just that run-specific spandex. Maybe I should find a spandex support group.
I suppose it could be worse.

I really do enjoy my long runs. I know I've stated it before, but running has never been a strong suite, still isn't, but at least now i truly enjoy it and my endurance is gradually increasing.
Total time today 75 minutes. Was hoping to go at least 90, but wasn't feeling so hot last night and I started to seriously bonk on today's run. Streatley also had some issues, strained his leg or something, started favoring it about 60 minutes into the run. So, just headed back in and was absolutely wiped by the time we were finished. Streatley immediately crashed on the couch and I showered and headed for a burrito.
…30 minutes later…
Mmmm. that hit the spot and feel much better. Now to relax the rest of the day with a little work thrown in I'm sure

Another poor weather day, so opted for the trainer. 90 minutes while watching half of Legends of the Fall.

Damn, this blogging thing is tough sometimes
. I've been training but just keep getting caught up with other projects after "the job" so haven't remembered to log in and make a post. Ran this morning, easy 30 minutes. Looking forward to the weekend's longer workouts, hopefully the weather hold ups.
Been busy as usual with work. Everytime I get close to catching up with projects, more come rolling in. It has certainly helped these last couple months as I just had to write a fat check for taxes. That certainly can be a downer, but what you gonna do? Anyway, finally told my boss the 40 hours have to get cut back as trifuel and other projects are getting too busy not to allocate daily hours (aside from lunch and evenings). So, I'll try to push through another couple 40 hour work weeks for them, then cut back to 20-25 and concentrate more on trifuel, web design, and training.
Funny, how I moved up here to get away from the Bay Area, commute, and 60 hour work weeks, and I find myself getting sucked right back into it. Need to sack up and cut the cord a bit. Granted it's been nice putting extra cash into savings and not worrying about making my bills. But it's starting cut into training and "my work" and ultimately the short term can't get in the way of the long term goal. While nice and steady, it's not going to get me where I need to be in a year's time. That will only come from pursuing my projects and keep forging ahead even if it means almond butter and jam sandwiches for a while
Anyway, I always wonder if this venting/ranting stuff is appropriate for my blog. I suppose it is since it's my blog, but knowing people read it and are probably not following what the hell I'm ranting and complaining about makes me wonder…
So, Deadwood. I'm a fairly recent subscriber to Netflix (don't have a tv or cable up here - though Spring OLN is probably going to cause me to change that) and just got hooked on Deadwood. Pretty good show. Good to see there are some good one's still being made. I got so burnt out on the reality tv on everynight and the crap I got sucked into that I just gave it up when I moved up here. Now I'll take in a few movies per week via Netflix instead. Leaves me more time to sit on the couch and read trifuel and triahlonlife posts
Funny thing is because I don't have a tv I also watch the Netflix's on my computer. Darn things on 18 hours a day.
Late!

Been a fairly busy weekend and Monday so time to do a little catch up.
Ran and Cycled this weekend. Switched the workouts around as the weather called for rain, and as usualy it didn't. So, very nice weekend and some good workouts. Also did a short recovery 30 minute run this morning before work. Felt pretty good. Hopefully the weather stays as it has been the last few days so I can get out more on the bike. Weekend weather hasn't been cooperating until this past weekend. Now that we have more daylight I should try to get a ride in after work rather than cutting out mid afternoon or doing the trainer later in the day.
Yesterday was also Tax day! Ouch, that one hurt. Certainly going to set me back a bit as I didn't pay enough taxes last year and owed more than I was expecting. Well, what you going do
The government gotta get their cash.
Going to try to get up and do an hour trainer before work tomorrow.
