Took off at about 1:30 to get in a ride before the rain starts coming in. Supposed to have some thunder storms later. Good ride, about 90 minutes. Changed up a little loop I do to add on some time. Headed out to the reservoir. The road is a bit rough, seems there's a seam every 10 yards or so, but nice ride. Pretty much just open farming and ranches. Lots of open fields and horses.
I'd really like to become a stronger cyclist this year so I think I'm going to focus more on the riding this summer. Maybe take off a run day and add a cycle day instead. Been having a hard time with run still so thinking maybe if I just work more on cycling and build leg strength it'll help me with my run.
So maybe 3 days of running and 4 days of cycling. And at least two days with some extended time climbing. I'd also like to have a goal in volume over the next 3 months. Something attainable, realistic, yet somewhat aggressive. I was thinking 2,500 miles by September 10th. However, there's a lot of climbing around here so it might be smarter to shoot for an hourly goal and hope that'll also get me the mileage. Since that's my usual measuring factor when I do my workouts and increase volume by 10% per week - it only makes sense.
So, 130 hours of cycling by September 10th. That's 10 hours per week. Starting today, I have 128.5 hours to go.
