Went out at about 9:30 this morning for a 2 hour ride. Was going to ride with Matt (attempt to stay on his wheel), but he hurt his foot yesterday and couldn't get his foot in the shoe. So I ended up riding on my own, but it was a good day. Felt good and kept a pretty good pace for the first 30 miles, but started to get a bit fatigued and hot coming back. It's mostly a rolling route, with only a few short steep climbs. Unfortunately they come towards the end and there tore me up. Legs burning and my average speed dropped way off for those last 10 miles.
All-in-all I felt good though, A strong effort and good ride.

Man it has been hot in here. Very warm and no air conditioning, makes it hard to sleep. I didn't think it'd get this warm up here. Been in the low to mid 90's.
Training catch-up. Sunday went for a ride after watching the tour. Wanted to suffer in the mountains like those guys (minus 10x). So went about 2 hours 45 minutes with a good 75-90 minutes of climbing. It was a good ride, but hot.
Yesterday was a work catch up day and I did some weight training. Been not following much of a weight training schedule and I can tell, getting very skinny in the arms and shoulders, as though there was any point in my life when that wasn't the case
Today was a 45 minute run on the trails. Gradual incline first 25 minutes or so. Legs were actually a bit heavy, most likely the Sunday climbing and squat/leg curl attempts yesterday.
Well, times up. My time is limited on the laptop in this heat. The fan starts cranking almost immediately and the thing starts making me sweat, gets way too hot - may be time for an upgrade.

Kinda got out of the habit of writing in the blog. I suppose as my schedule gets busier the blog and posting in the forum tend to drop off. One of those things you have to make a habit to keep at it.
Been training however, however not as much as I'd like. 75 minutes of running today. A few days of riding last week as well as runs. Have been checking out different events (as spectator and wannabe photographer) as well as traveling for several weekends. This tends to seriously cut into my training habits. I rarely try to do a make-up workout, but rather just continue on with my normal weeks training. Therefore I've been missing a lot of long rides and runs.
Still plugging away at my self employment goals. Making progress cutting down my debts, but still a good distance from having enough in the Sanity funds to take the plunge.
Seems things on the forums have been a little hostile and hyper critical lately. Certianly something I was aware would happen as the community grows, but just wish that wasn't the nature of things. I suppose when people can hide behind a computer they fell free to be rude. Sometimes I think about changing it to a "invite only" type of thing. You can only become a member if you are invited by someone or petition to get in. Sounds wierd and potentially a little anti-internet, but at the same time if someone is being rude in a restaurant or retail store they are escorted out. Likewise if you're an ass at your local club, most likely you'd be kicked out. Fortunately there are still more positive athletes out there that can really contribute to the community that I probably won't have to go that route - just thinking out loud I suppose. By the way, if you've read this far but complain about not having good enough content in the posts you shouldn't have read this far
Anyway, probably enough for today. i check in tomorrow with details on my hour long morning ride. The Alchemist is a great book. I re-read it every 6 months or so.
