A little catch up as usual…
Sunday was a day off. Didn't plan it that way, but was tracking my brother and other trifulers on their IMC adventures. It was such a good race I couldn't pull myself away from the text updates every 5-10 minutes
. We need some live OLN Tour De France coverage on these things! Turned out a great, although tough, day for all. Chris held out for the win and all the Trifuelers completed the race in good form. Congrats to all!
Yesterday, then became my long run. Went out for the longest of the season thus far. 1 hour 40 minutes. Felt like crap the first 45 minutes but then got a second wind and cruised the remaining miles. Felt as though I could have gone further.
Today went for a ride. Actually first ride with BigMatt. He was just going for a super easy spin ride so I figured I could hang. Felt pretty good once the legs warmed up. Lost his back wheel on a couple ascends, but for the most part was able to ride along without over exherting myself too much. About 2 hours of riding and a decent pace for me.

Well, got back on the road bike. After getting the chain fixed, today my odometer stopped working. So, now I need to get my odometer and heart rate monitor fixed. Probably just needs fresh batteries.
Went out for about 3 1/2 hours. Two hours out on rolling terrain, then climbed out toward Bachelor for an hour with a 1/2 hour descent. Fried now. Legs are burning. Was supposed to keep it easy, but found some rabbits to chase on the mountain so I kept trying to ride up to people.
Long run tomorrow.

With the longer than normal run on Thursday and the tough ride yesterday, I opted to run a little less than I had planned. Did 70 minutes through town to the river trail and back. Tried to keep my HR lower but some of the climbs on the trail caused some spikes. Legs were pretty heavy.

Went for a long ride this morning. Ended doing 4 hours and about 70 miles. Heavy winds to start the day so I headed towards the hills to try to find some cover from the winds. My normal long route heads east which is pretty open to the elements. I did a bit of exploring to find some routes on the west side and ended up putting in about 2 hours on that side before my route ended up taking my back into town.
Then I decided I needed to get the extra 2 hours in, so headed East. Nice ride out as the wind was to my back, but circling around to head back the winds really hampered my pace. I made it, but was pretty exhausted.

I love trail running! The routes out here are awesome. I know I've probably already stated that in previous posts, but they are fun.
Went out today for a run. Wasn't planning on going as long and hard as I did, but once I got out there I decided to just let it go and see what I could do. I ended up doing the same route I did on Sunday - longest trail run yet. It was tough and I really pushed myself on the uphill. Ended up shaving 13 minutes off the time from Sunday's run and was able to hold an average HR of 158 for the 75 minutes. Pretty good since it's fairly hilly with a bunch of cutbacks.
To pull a quote from the surfing culture, "It's all about the Stoke!"

Went for a ride yesterday. Up to the 17 mile marker on Century Drive. About a 32 mile round trip with the first half uphill. Flew donw the mountain hit about 37 mph max. I still get a little nervous at that speed, don't feel totally in control of the bike. Need to just keep doing it and get more comfortable.
Did some running and strength training on Tuesday.

Catch up time again. Saturday I went for a long ride. Probably my longest of the season. 3 hours 45 minutes, about 70 miles. Felt pretty good, though a couple sections I started dragging a bit. It looked pretty flat but it was a few miles of gradual climbing. Didn't realize it until I turned to come come and was flying.
Sunday went for a long trail run, 90 minutes. Good gradual incline up the mountain, and then a bit of traversing coming back down. Good run, especailly after my longest ride.
Yesterday I went out to just spin to get the blood flowing the legs but ended up on a route that took me about 2 hours. 35 mile loop with some good head winds coming back. Felt pretty weak, though my heart rate stayed fairly low.
Tired today. May do some weights and a light 30 minute run or just may take the day off. Depends on how much work I need to get through today.
Also trying to decide on an Ironman to do next year. I would have liked to do CdA but it's the same time as Pacific Crest which is right here in town. Figured with the cost of racing I should try to do local ones to save some cash. So now I'm thinking Canada or Wisconsin.

Yes, I'm a blog slacker. Keep putting off posting and then I forget all together.
Let's try to do a quick update:
Saturday: 3 hour ride
Sunday: 1 hour trail run
Monday: 1:15 ride
Tuesday: Weights, Off
Wednesday: 2:45 ride
All in all the training has been good over the past week. The weeks prior to that were'nt very good as I was experience some lightheadedness and occasional dizzyness during the days. Still am a little bit and trying to figure out the issue. Went to the Doctor on Friday and she says I have a slight sinus infection which could be causing some equalibrium issues. She drained some blockage in my ear and things seemed good for a while. I'm also taking Nasenex to help clear the infection. Yesterday after my ride, however, I felt the symptoms again. The doc mentioned it could also be allergy induced, where it's causing more blockage, so today I need to go get some claritin and see if that helps the issue.
Probably do a run later this morning.
