Endurable Me.

My Ironman Training Plan

This is my Ironman Plan for Canada, my first. I based it on the Half Plan on Trifuel along with some books I’ve read, feedback from my brothers, and my current strengths/weaknesses. This will most likely be a work in progress and I’ll continue to dial things in a bit. Still need to fine-tune those last few weeks.

I think it’s a good plan to start and I’ll evaluate each week and make adjustments.

My Training Plan

I’m posting it for easy access and to share with you guys to get some feedback.

The plan looks cool. Did your bros look it over for you, I assume so. Good luck and I look forward to following it. Good luck and we’ll see ya at IMC.

They haven’t checked it yet. I discussed it with them when making it, but they have to still check it out and provide some feedback. I think I still need to fine tune those last few weeks and make sure my volume increases week to week are good.

That looks like fun :-)

One “constructive feedback”: Is the swim your strength? I didn’t think it was, and I’ve heard that doing any of the sports 2x a week only maintains (if that) a current level. Especially for the swim where technique is so crucial, it seems like you might want to get in the pool more than twice a week. Also, since the IM swim will probably be over an hour for you, it seems like you might want a few longer swims in there. Again, I’ve never made a schedule, but that seems to be the only thing that jumps out as different from most that I’ve read or looked at.

thanks for the feedback. good points. I move to 3 swims a week at week 1. The first couple weeks are for me just to get back into it. yes, swimming isn’t my strongest leg and I’ll most likely increase that 45 minute swim to 60+ minute swims. I’m trying to put more energy in the bike and run training and enough swimming to get comfortable but not push myself too much on that end. How much swimming did you do for IMAZ?

Looks good. only comments we be the following - don;t see any rest days built in. Would probably be beneficial to have at least one day where you completely relax and do nothing…not even an easy swim/bike/run. Just a day to recharge. Second, doesn’t look like you have any other races/events built in. Might also be good so that you can get away from just swimmign/biking/running. My only other comment, which is one that I have built into my IMLP plan is to mix up the days you do certain exercises from week to week. For example, you are always swimming, biking and running on the exact same days every week. Why not flip them around a bit…otherwise, you’ll find that you’ll get to week 10 and you’ll be bored silly. Just a thought. Otherwise, enjoy and good luck at IMC…I’m 28 weeks into a 44 week program (lots of prep work) and only 16 week sout from IMLP…and scared that i still have tones to do!

Awesome, thanks. Great feedback guys. I can’t believe I forgot to put the rest days in. I was thinking about that on my ride yesterday, trying to put one in every 8-10 days (completely off), maybe alternating Monday’s or Fridays. Thanks for the reminder and the swapping tips.

This will definitely be my main structure, but that is flexible. So I can swap (and already have due to weather etc.) days around but still try to make those workouts for the week. So sometimes I may swap the weekend days or others as day-to-day life inserts itself. :)

Good luck with LP :)

Hey tribro, nice plan. Good luck. I’ve been trying to figure out what I am going to do to get thru Vineman. Which is only 19 weeks away. I feel lost. Anyway…looking at your plan helps give me ideas about what I should get going on.

thanks. Are you using any plan right now? My brother just put a Half one up on the site. It may give you some tips or reference point.

It’s the Half Plan linked at the top of this post. Good luck!

Looking at doing IM Canada 2007. Looking for advise about buying a bike. I know NOTHING about what I am lookign for in a bike. I want light, and easy on the budget. Can anyone recommend where to look and what to look for in Vancouver. Any advise would be appreciated.
