MIA… But Still Here and Training

Time for my monthly check in :( . Been very busy and as usual the blog slides during busy, hectic times. Took a little time off after the Pacific Crest race. That thing drained me pretty good, physically and mentally. I feel like my running has been a struggle since, but it’s getting better. The swimming has been a little tough and I’ve been bad. Matt’s been in Norcal for the last 3 weeks and my ride to the pool went with him. So, I’ve had to walk over and tough to get motivated to do so.

Been brutually hot the last couple weeks. 90’s last week and hit 100 I believe three days this week. That and the tour has been hampering my sleep. No air conditioning in our place so really hot in the evening, then I try to get up early to watch the tour and fall in and out of sleep on the couch.

Did a massive bike week for me this week. Really want to get strong enough were I don’t need to worry about the bike leg of Canada. It’s got some hills, my nemisis, and I need to conquer them cause the run is going to be a struggle.

Monday: 65 miles

Tuesday: 45 minute run

Wednesday: My Alps ride. 100 miles with 6,000 ft of climbing. Went up over Bachelor and tackled the portion of Pacific Crest that killed me. Longest ride ever with some really long climbs. Very slow, but very stoked to have the ride under my belt. A little shorter than Canada course but with the climbs I think a little tougher so I know I can get through the bike portion.

Thursday: Heavy legs. 40 miles with 15 minute transition run

Fri: Rest

Today: 75 miles with 30 minute run off the bike. This felt good as well. I blew up at Pacific Crest after the 58 mile ride. Couldn’t run at all. So doing todays 75 I felt good for the 30 minute run. I think a bit hotter today as well.

So that’s this week’s update. Going to go long and hard next week as well. Only 5 weeks til race day so tapering starts soon. Only have about a week, maybe two (?) to get in my long efforts.
